Antimicrobial resistance at a crossroads: the cost of inaction

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a significant threat to individual lives, communities, and national security. AMR could reverse antibiotic life expectancy gains and worsen future pandemics. It impacts treatments and outcomes in chronic diseases and cancer patients. AMR also drains resources from sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and food production, potentially causing a $1 trillion annual loss by 2030. The UNGA High-Level Meeting on AMR presents a crucial opportunity for global leaders to commit to action.
